Commitment Sunday was February 4th!

Here’s what membership looks like at LCC…

Each year, our church takes the first Sunday in February to renew our commitments to God and to each other for another year. For some of us, that means affirming our membership covenant. For others it means affirming our associate covenant which is really just a commitment to hang around with us for this year.

A couple of years back, Pastor Jeff wrote a series of blog posts designed to help us prepare for making this commitment, so let me encourage you to read them over again (or for the first time) this year. Storm Shelter

Calvary Chapel News - Tue, 02/20/2018 - 08:21

Having the wisdom to know what to do in a storm can be the difference between disaster and safety. Life is full of storms{trials} and we were never meant to live life alone. Biblically when we think of a storm we think of being on a boat in the middle of the ocean. And when that storm arises the first thing we look for is land, someplace solid. Jesus Christ is that solid ground{shore}, that solid ground where our feet can be firmly placed. Jesus is also the life preserver. He said he would never leave us nor forsake us{never let us drown}. He has already rescued us and that life preserver is already under our arms holding us up. A lot of times we feel left alone during the stormy times. We tend to focus on the problem instead of the problem solver. We question the blessings of God because we think that we can live our lives the way we want and still expect God to bless us and get upset when he doesn’t. Yet we still try to pull the wool over Gods eyes; [pardon the pun]. We try to blame God for the chaos in our lives and never give him credit for the order that he tries to implement in our life. Jesus fortifies are hope with his faithfulness he shows us daily. The passion of Jesus is for his children and that passion remains unchanged for eternity. We are to have one faith, one hope, one mind, one heartbeat, one focus on the divine love. We are to serve God with one  one purpose in life, to please Him! We are to have one purpose in serving each other and that is to glorify God! This thing we call life is one huge storm, one right after another. You would think by now that we would have enough sense to seek the storm shelter which is “Jesus Christ” and seek his refuge. Psalms 27:5, 31:20, 55:8, 61:4, 119:114. Amen!

#wisdom

Lafayette Community Church - Sun, 02/11/2018 - 01:54
Now more than ever, we live in a society where passion gets to drive, knowledge rides shotgun, and wisdom is forced to sit in the back if it’s even allowed in the car. We can’t continue to live that way. It’s time to get back to what’s important.

Professing Christ

Calvary Chapel News - Fri, 02/09/2018 - 21:29

If you profess to be a Christian, the Focus of our lives should be that it is pleasing to God. That focus is in the Holy Spirit being in control of everything we say, do, and think. The reason we are afraid of and worry about things in our lives that are not pleasing to God, is that the Holy Spirit is not in complete control. As we let the Holy Spirit be in control of our lives it causes us to focus on the fact that God is ultimately in control of everything and that should give us a divine peace. But, if you think for one minute that God has your picture on his refrigerator {that you’re special} and that he will look the other way when it comes to the way we handle our lives and not discipline us or correct us when we are not doing things his way, you’re sadly mistaken. God disciplines and corrects those who he loves (Hebrews 12:6). That discipline to us might be heartache, sickness, pain, broken relationships, etc. Trust me when I say that these things are used by God to bring us closer to him and to trust him more in his faithfulness. When it says in Romans 8:28,” that all things work for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.” We may not see it as good right now, but down the road when we look back, hopefully we’ll see how God’s hand was divinely guiding and inspiring our lives and others around us. Amen!

2018 is upon us. With 10 years of ministry under our belts, LCC is poised to embrace a larger vision, but first, we need to become people of greater vision and to do that, we need to become people of deeper prayer. This new series of messages will be accompanied by prayer meetings every day for 21 consecutive days. The series begins on New Year’s Eve, but the 21 Days of Prayer begin the following Sunday, on January 7.
